Vice President Pence arrives in North Naples
A motorcade that appeared to be carrying Vice President Mike Pence traveled down Old 41 Road and through the intersection with U.S. 41 North Thursday morning.
Collier County sheriff's deputies shut down the intersection to north and southbound traffic for about 10 minutes just before 10 a.m. Then a motorcade of black and silver sport utility vehicles led by Sheriff's Office motorcycles passed through and headed south on U.S. 41 North. The motorcade did not pass through the Immokalee Road intersection.
A Sheriff's Office spokeswoman could only confirm the motorcade was for a "dignitary," but Pence was known to be visiting Sanibel Island earlier this week. The Federal Aviation Administration restricted three nautical miles of North Naples airspace from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, but exempted "military aircraft directly supporting the United States Secret Service and The Office of the Vice President of the United States."
