Le Macaron opens in Coconut Point mall

Rows of brightly tinted macarons line the glass display cases, tempting shoppers to pause for a classic French treat.

Le Macaron French Pastries opened in August at Coconut Point mall in Estero. This is the second Estero store for the Sarasota-based franchise.

Owner Florence del Fondo lived in France for 20 years and was searching for a business to open when she returned to the U.S.

"We found this franchise and thought it was very exciting because it is a very good product," she explained.

More than 20 flavors of French macarons are available on a rotating basis.

"We are very fond of macarons in France," del Fondo explained. "I am very picky about them. We came, tried them and found that they were very good."

Pistachio, rose, cassis, lemon, chocolate, caramel, basil, vanilla and more fill the cases alongside eclairs, chocolates and French pastries.

Gelato, espresso and coffee drinks are also served, and small tables provide a quiet respite for busy shoppers along Fashion Drive.
