Matt Damon visits Naples, takes selfie with fan

Actor Matt Damon spent some time in Naples on Thursday, and a fan shared a 'selfie' with Damon on social media.

Stiliyan Kostadinov, a bartender at Tony’s Off Third, shared it on his Instagram account.

“He seemed like a nice guy,” Kostadinov wrote via an Instagram message. “I was busy at work, and he was very polite to allow me to snap a photo of us really quick.”

Tony’s Off Third is a wine and pastry shop near Gordon Drive and 13th Avenue South in Old Naples.

"When Matt Damon stops by for a wine. #naples #florida," Kostadinov wrote in the post.

He purchased a wine called Mercury Head by Orin Swift at Tony’s Off Third, according to Caroline Ridgway, Marketing Director of Ridgway Bar & Grill and Tony’s Off Third. 

It's unclear why and for how long Damon is in Napes. Some commenters on the Tony's Off Third Facebook page said Damon's father lives in Naples. Another commenter said his parents are members of a local golf club.

Damon latest movie Suburbicon has been panned by critics. USA Today said the movie "dips into the timely satire of mid-20th century suburbia, with inherent racism and white privilege hiding in plain sight next to picket fences and well-trimmed lawns, but rather than embracing it wholeheartedly, the narrative defaults to a lackluster murder mystery and a violent example of men and woman behaving badly."

Matt Damon is just one of the many celebrities who visit Naples: Last year, WWE star John Cena was in Naples to attend the wedding of his girlfriend’s mother. Comedian and actress Amy Schumer visited a Naples beach when she was in the area to perform at Germain Arena.
