Florida high school student arrested after threatening to 'shoot up' Tallahassee's Godby High

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A student at Tallahassee's Godby High School was arrested Wednesday after threatening to "shoot up" the school on an Instagram post, the Leon County Sheriff's Office said.

Seventeen-year-old Travis Williams' post read, "I'm going to shoot up amos p godby I swear just wait on 2/23/18."

Authorities in Leon County and neighboring Gadsden County informed the Florida Department of Law Enforcement about the post. Deputies hours later tracked down the original device from which it was posted.

Travis was arrested on charges of written threats to kill or do bodily injury and taken to the a nearby juvenile assessment center.

The threat comes one week after a teenage gunman killed 17 people at a school in Parkland, Fla., on the far corner of the state.
